Project Title: „Application of VLP technology for development of vaccine prototypes against zoonotic diseases”
Funding: European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)
Project Nr.: 2014/0014/2DP/18.104.22.168.0/14/APIA/VIAA/013
Period: 13 month (1st August 2014 – 31st August 2015)
Project costs: 526 063,00 EUR
Principle Investigator: Dr.biol. K.Tārs
The general aim of the project is to develop technologies of recombinant vaccines, thereby contributing to improvement of healthcare and promoting development of biotechnological industry.
During the project we aim to develop technologies for vaccine development against two zoonotic diseases – Lyme borreliosis and Chickungunya fever. To meet our goals, we plan to use virus-like particle technology, developed in our institution. We will couple surface proteins of B. burgdorferi spirochaeta and Chickungunya virus to the surface of virus-like particles and investigate immunogenicity of obtained constructs in animal models.
