Molecular characterisation, epidemiology, immunogenetic aspects and clinical investigation of children tuberculosis causal agent
Funding: State Research Programme "Development of advanced prevention strategies, treatment, diagnostic tools and methods, biomedical technologies for improving public health":
Head of subproject: Dr. biol. Viesturs Baumanis
The aim of the Project is exploring children illness cases of tuberculosis using metods of molecular biology and clinical epidemology. The benefits would be development of adequate infection/disease diagnosis and treatment thus decreasing the sickness rate. Project tasks is to achieve scientifically valid information on individual nosocomial infections in certain hospital departments, as well as the consequences of these infections. Since the study will be carried out in various forms, to address the situation, it will be possible to evaluate their effectiveness and potential benefits of introducing them nationally.
Since in this project will be carried out merging the competence of clinical medicine and basic medical science experts to develop and improve the diagnosis and treatment strategy with a predictable effect on patients' quality of life, this will create preconditions for further incorporated into the European Research Area.
