Dr. biol. Aija Linē has been voted to be a member of the Academia Europaea


In October this year the senior researcher dr. biol. Aija Linē has been voted to become a member of one of the most prestigious European scientific associations Academia Europaea (AE). The Academy is formed by leading experts in exact as well as humanitarian sciences with a common aim to promote learning, education and research. Dr. Linē has joined the group of five distinguished scientists as profesors Elmārs Grēns, Viesturs Tamužs, Andrejs Cēbers, Rūsiņš Mārtiņš Freivalds, un Mārcis Auziņš. There are over 2000 members in the AE from 35 European countries, from which the Baltic states are now represented by 16 members. Dr. Linē is the head of the cancer biology and immunology group whose the main research interests are the elaboration of early cancer diagnostic and prognostic tools, and the investigation of the role of microRNAs in the cancer intercellular communication and the role of Zn enzymes in the biology of putative cancer stem cells.
